Integrative Therapy Groups Sometimes the best teachers for children are other children. Marian Hope Center group therapy sessions create a unique opportunity for integrative learning from other children with diagnoses as well as peer models (children without special needs diagnoses). This closely monitored setting allows therapists and paraprofessionals to guide positive interaction and capitalize on occasions to teach appropriate behaviors. Our multipurpose sessions incorporate social skills, play-based learning, language enrichment, academic, feeding, fine motor, and gross motor therapies.

Parent & Caregiver Education You’ve been told your child has autism, Down syndrome, or a special need that will affect their ability to function and learn in normal social and academic settings. Now that you have the official diagnosis, where do you turn? How do you determine the severity of your individual child’s diagnosis? Where do you find the assistance you need to help your child succeed? These are all questions Marian Hope Center can help answer. We provide comprehensive assessments, constant evaluation, thorough feedback, and practical tools parents and caregivers can use in everyday situations with their child. Marian Hope Center also holds scheduled training presentations for parents, families, and caregivers to empower them to improve the life of their child.

Peer Modeling People talk about “celebrating our differences”, but Marian Hope Center puts this idea into action. Children are born open and accepting. So as parents and caregivers, it is our responsibility to give them practical life experiences to reinforce compassion and tolerance – qualities which make our society better for everyone. Peer relationships are important for the social and cognitive development of every child, peer models are an integral part of Marian Hope Center. Our program creates an environment in which children with and without diagnoses interact, play together, and learn from each other. The impact is multilayered, positively affecting all children’s education, socialization, and emotional well-being, while fostering acceptance and cooperation.

Nutrition We are what we eat. What does that really mean? A key element that sets Marian Hope Center apart is our knowledge and counsel on nutrition. We’ve handled several cases where nutrition, not just medicine, was a central factor in helping improve behavioral and physical health issues. In our effort to treat the “whole” child, we evaluate your child’s diet and provide practical tools to help manage healthy, realistic food choices for your child and entire family. While we do not advocate removing your child from physician-prescribed drug treatment without consulting a doctor, we do encourage you to look at nutrition as a supportive means of managing your child’s diagnosis.
