The first Tuesday of each month, staff and families from the Marian Hope Center for Children's Therapy will host a nutritional support group. This group will support each other as they uncover good nutrition and supplements that can help improve focus, attention, behaviors, sensory processing, auditory comprehension, and speech development.
Massive research has been conducted on nutrition and nutritional deprivation and its effects on brain functioning and development. Learn why the gluten/casein free diet may be appropriate for your child and learn ways to implement it successfully. Learn why sugar, artificial flavors/colors, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, and other ingredients that are frequently found in foods are commonly harmful to the body and the brain. Learn what fats are critically important to brain functioning and why most children are deprived of them.
This is your time to ask questions and gather information to better manage your child's nutrition. This group is for families who are well-trained in implementing specialized diets as well as for families who are brand-new to dietary interventions.
Please join us on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Meetings will be held at the Marian Hope Center. We ask that you please read our Nutritional Disclaimer before attending a meeting or reading the handouts. Thank you!
NEXT MEETING: AUGUST 3, 2010 We will host a cooking class from 6:30-8:30 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Lee's Summit. Jennifer Ward, owner of Be Free Bakers, will give ideas and recipes for healthy, allergen-free lunchbox lunches.
