GROUP POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Mission
We remain committed to providing elite services so children will learn appropriate play, social, motor, academic, language, and communication skills to enhance their quality of life and reach their optimal potential. We open our groups to all children no matter their abilities or disabilities. What sets us apart from other learning centers is we strongly believe in an integrative and therapeutic approach to skill development. We want our families who have children with special needs to understand the amazing skills that can be developed when their child is structured appropriately within a mixed model of peers. We want our families who enroll children with typical development to realize to an even greater degree the skills and character traits their child will develop by being integrated with children with special needs. The characteristics and skills of leadership, compassion, encouragement, teaching others, confidence, and pride in themselves are enhanced when given the opportunity to be a peer model.

Therapy Services
We offer the option for children with special needs to have their own one-on-one therapist during their sessions. Depending on the needs of your child, it may be required your child receive his/her own therapist to achieve maximum development of skills. Your individual therapist will bill your funding source for individual services provided (e.g., First Steps, Insurance, Medicaid, state funding, private pay). We will contract out a therapist as needed or parents have the option to bring in their own private therapist.

Arrival & Departure Procedures

Our therapists will begin each group session promptly at its scheduled time. Please arrive approximately 5 minutes prior to your scheduled group. Upon arrival, sign your child in and wait to be greeted by a therapist who will escort your child back to the therapy room. The groups will run for approximately 50 minutes, allowing 10 minutes for the therapists to consult with you regarding your child and what to work on for the week. Since there are typically only 15 minutes between groups, please email your therapist at another time with any questions or comments that may require more time for consultation.

Privacy
In an effort to protect your family's privacy, therapists prefer to discuss your child's progress with you in private. The Marian Hope Center Privacy Policy prohibits families from disclosing any information or asking questions of staff regarding other children and their families who participate in the groups.
